The client
FlexiForce Canada is a manufacturing company in British Columbia, Canada which serves customers throughout the Americas.
The need
The client was looking to revive and enhance their workplace inspection program.
The solution
Starting from their existing safety inspection checklist, I researched what other companies were including in their safety inspections and created a master safety inspection checklist, with the inspection points organized into categories. Some points were rewritten for consistent perspective, so that “yes” answers were always good and “no” answers were always bad.
Using the existing factory zone divisions from a previous project, I then defined walking routes through each zone and points along that route at which the inspector should stop and look around. For each point, a relevant subset of inspection points were chosen from the master list.
SafetyCulture was selected as the web-based platform for performing inspections. This allowed inspectors to complete their walking audits interactively, take photos of any issues they identified along the way, and turn these into assignable corrective actions.
