The client
APICS Fraser Valley was an APICS chapter based in British Columbia, Canada which served members throughout the Fraser and Okanagan valleys. It merged with the APICS Vancouver chapter on January 1, 2021 to form the ASCM British Columbia chapter, which later merged in 2022 with ASCM chapters in Alberta and Saskatchewan to form the ASCM Western Canada chapter.
The need
The parent organization had mandated all chapters to migrate to the StarChapter platform. The client needed someone with web development experience to lead the migration.
The solution
Similar to previous websites that I had worked on, I began with a brainstorming session to talk about the different types of people that come to our website and what information they are looking for. From there, I created a sitemap and the team worked together to write the content. Active job postings and past event information were migrated from the old site. Photography came from my personal collection. Membership data was imported from Constant Contact and members were contacted to reaffirm their consent to receive marketing communications.
